Dr. Leoniek Kroneman
Consultant, Clinical Psychologist
Dr Leoniek Kroneman is a clinical psychologist from The Netherlands. She holds a PhD in Developmental Psychology (2009) and is a registered cognitive behavioral psychotherapist (Netherlands) and EMDR Practitioner (Europe). She graduated from National University of Singapore (NUS) with an MBA in Health Care Management (2019). She is an International Affiliate with the Malaysian Society of Clinical Psychologists (MSCP).

Leoniek founded the Research & Advocacy department in Thrive Well in 2019. After her repatriation to The Netherlands, she joined BMC as a managing consultant and continues to act as a clinical consultant for Thrive Well. She is on a mission to break barriers to mental health care in Malaysia, and to implement trauma informed care (TIC) in particular.

As a trailing spouse, Leoniek spent multiple years in Southeast Asia (Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia). She currently lives in The Netherlands with her husband and two children.

Her passion lies in working together for positive change; whether on the individual’s (mental) health and well-being through psychotherapy, knowledge about psychiatric disorders in adolescents through research, or improving (mental) health care through organizational development.

Much of her work focuses on trauma informed care, building resilience, particularly in youth, and battling the stigma surrounding mental health. She consults, conducts research, offers clinical supervision to clinical psychologists in training and conducts talks on mental health.

Outside work, she enjoys running, trying out new restaurants (with a strong preference for Asian food!) and cheering on her children on the soccer pitch.
