Puvessha is a registered clinical psychologist with over a decade of experience delivering mental health services across Malaysia and Australia. She holds a Master of Clinical Psychology from Curtin University, Australia, and is registered with both the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency and the Malaysian Society of Clinical Psychology.
Her clinical practice is grounded in trauma-informed care, with a strong focus on individuals who have experienced trauma and complex trauma. She also works with clients experiencing mood disorders, anxiety disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, sexual dysfunctions, and personality disorders. Puvessha is trained in a range of evidence-based interventions, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness, Narrative Exposure Therapy, Exposure Therapy, and Interpersonal Therapy (IPT). Her therapeutic approach emphasizes safety, empowerment, and cultural sensitivity.
Her professional experience spans a wide range of settings, including clinical environments, community mental health services, correctional institutions, academic settings, and non-governmental organisations. This breadth of experience enables her to adopt a holistic and systems-informed perspective in both clinical work and program development.
Currently, she chairs the Master of Clinical Psychology program and serves as Deputy Head of Department at a leading private university. She is also pursuing a PhD in Psychology, with a research focus on trauma management among refugees and asylum seekers in Malaysia.
