Empowering Youths with Super Skills for Life

In an effort to build resilience amongst youth in Malaysia and to impart skills to deal with challenging situations in life, the evidence-based programme 'Super Skills for Life (SSL)' was initiated in Malaysia with the support of the Ministry of Youth and Sports and Malaysian Youth Council..

The 'Super Skills for Life' programme was developed by Professor Cecilia A. Essau from the University of Roehampton, UK, and Professor Thomas H. Ollendick from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, Blacksburg, Virginia, USA.

SOLS Health's social work practitioners, Dr. Kishwen Kanna Yoga Ratnam (a Public Health professional attached with the Ministry of Health) and Farah Azlin (clinical psychologist) were among the chosen few to form the inaugural cohort of trained youth workers to conduct the SSL Programme nationwide.

Both Dr. Kishwen and Farah were officially selected as facilitators by the Malaysian Youth Council in the delivery of the programme following an intensive Train-the-Trainers (ToT) workshop led by Professor Cecilia herself.

SOLS Health is grateful to be actively involved in programmes and initiatives such as this, that will contribute to the well-being and empowerment of youths. We are committed to playing our part in building healthy and inclusive communities in Malaysia.
